Celebrating each Leaf of your Great Tree of Life

Tree of Life with a heart at its centre, signifying a life well lived and a ceremony produced from the heart.

You might be looking at this page because you have recently lost a loved-one and are looking for an independent Scottish celebrant to officiate the funeral.  If that is the case, I am so very sorry for your loss.

In order to assist you with information that you will hopefully find useful in this process, let me explain what an independent funeral celebrant like me can do.

Truly independent, non-Humanist, celebrants exist to create a cathartic celebration that perfectly encapsulates the memory of the person who has passed away.  It is quite a modern take on how we celebrate the journey of our loved-one's life.

How I can help ...

Each step of the carefully crafted ceremony will be completely unique and written  in such a way that your loved-one's "special notes" of their life's journey will be highlighted and reflected upon.  I will come to your family home, gathering memories and life moments about your loved one.  I will show great empathy whilst listening to their life story, taking time to know who the deceased truly was, as well as the wishes of the family, to create your unique celebration service.

Many feel that typical traditional funerals don’t offer any kind of emotional weight, despite this being a huge part of the grieving process. This can even leave family and friends feeling even sadder when they leave the service.  However, the type of service I offer is to try to bring a sense of light and love to the ceremony in a respectful and dignified manner, reminding the mourners that the individual lived a beautiful, meaningful life.  It also gives you the flexibility to factor in different beliefs and wishes, without being tied to a specific structure.  You are free to incorporate personal - or even quirky - elements  to the ceremony reflecting your loved-one's personality, for example with music, poetry, family readings and personal eulogies and  I am on hand to guide you through the whole process.

Client Feedback

It's always satisfying when a grieving client, especially at one of the most emotionally-charged time of their life, takes the time and effort not just to write and thank me after the service, but to provide a testimonial to show their gratitude. I am always humbled and very grateful.

What's Included and Price

I work throughout the central belt of Scotland, further on occasion.  I charge a flat fee of £220.  This includes all phone or text consultations, a personal visit to your family home to discuss the details of the Order of Service, working with you to craft a completely bespoke ceremony using a specially written eulogy incorporating all of the elements discussed and agreed.  I will send you the draft script for you to proof and any tweaks will be completed before sending you the final edited script.  I will then deliver this written eulogy on the day of the funeral with compassion, empathy, confidence and sincerity showing deep respect for the deceased and family.  You will receive a copy of the eulogy script after the ceremony.
